CURRENCY

​

The currency in Costa Rica is Colones.  The exchange

rate is 613 colones to the dollar.  So $1.00 is 613.colones.  

​

Do not exchange money at the airport, the exchange rate is much higher.  Most restaurants accept credit cards and the US dollar.  

​

It is typical in Costa Rica that a 10% tip is added to every bill.  There is also a food and beverage tax that is added to the bill.
